Any place that has ice at this point will require a plank, ladder, or waders to get to it. Nowhere is entirely safe, and the chances it will rot out on you while you're out there, you'll go through, or not be able to get back off the ice are extremely high. 40's on Saturday, 50's on Sunday. Use this weekend to prep your spring gear.

Any of the Ponds in Plainfield (e.g., Plainfield, Crooked, K of C), Savoy (Burnett's or  Bog) or Florida (North or South) - - all in the NW corner of the State - - should still have adequate ice for at least the next few weeks.

Not so fast there flyfish.  If ya don't know what your talking about don't post.  Was on firm ice 12" today and walked right on.  I bet you would like to know where? and its in MA.

Solid edge, no plank needed, holes freezing up good all day today. It never got above freezing, even in the sun. I left at 4pm, 32 degrees. 8"-10" of ice, base felt solid, like hitting concrete with the chisel. Thanks to Paul, I didn't have to chop, should have brought my auger!

First of all, relax. I had a reliable report that the access on even the plainfield area ponds were ugly. I'm super stoked that it was cold enough to lock that up. Thanks for the report though, hopefully people have the sense to check the ice thoroughly before just walking right on themselves. It's still late season and it's still going to be 50 tomorrow.

I bet you would like to know where? and its in MA.

I'm good. Bragging about finding ice when others are looking is pretty lame. Everyone knows the plainfield area freezes early and stays late. So don't worry, you can keep your secrets.

Ouch! No secrets here. If anyone asked me I would let you know. Plenty of guys do.
