Little More Open Fishing
« on: Feb 02, 2006, 05:37 AM »
Went out bass fishing after work last night to knock a little cabin fever down, in the Triton. I managed 6 bass with 3 being keepers, but no big ones. We did accidentally snag two decent bluegill (I guess we needed the slip bobbers too). I caught all the bass on a silver/silver scale pattern Hoyer Blade bait. The fish were hitting very funny and lost at least 10. They were very hard to keep hooked. Four of the six I did land came off in the boat. I guess I wouldn't be too hungry either in 35.3 degree water. All the fish were caught in 9-11 feet. I may get one more afternoon tonight and it looks like a good possibilty of getting out to do a little jumbo perching on the ice. Although, I do like that the mild winter has kept my heating bill down with the high gas prices. God Bless and Good Fishin'

Funny you should mention high gas prices! I have been working with a natural gas broker to lower my bill at my shop. Right now, by signing up with the broker I can pay about 10.20$ per deca therm. With the utility company it is running about 13.10 per deca therm. Guess what? The mild winter is hurting the Gas companies so they continue the higher prices to make up for the block purchases that they made anticipating an average to colder than average winter. It really bites having to get the brunt of someone else's misfortune!

Put in a corn pellet stove this year, since I have 30,000 bushels sitting in the bins. My gas bill was 43.00 for Dec. and Jan. Hot water heater made that. Love not having to fork over money to the gas company's anymore!
