Tough bite?
« on: Feb 06, 2016, 04:12 PM »
Got to the spot at dark thirty and Jason got a nice male bow while setting his smelt down the hole. And then zippo. Ice conditions were excellent. 2 other buddies stayed a bit closer west and bagged 2 flags all day. I talked to Sawyer who is up ta camp and he said they struggled a bit with just a few yellows and a few pickeral. My other buddy is up in Eustis and they also had  tough day up there. Maybe I should have hot Sebago with the togue pros...Hopefully Glen or Bob share some pics. They picked up a bunch of togue and the most ironic catch of the year.
May God bless and keep you always, may your wishes all come true.
May you always do for others and let others do for you.
May you build a ladder to the stars and climb on every rung,
May your hands always be busy, may your feet always be swift.
May you have a strong foundation when the winds of changes shift.
May your heart always be joyful, may your songs always be sung.
May you stay forever young.

Gary, Good report sounds like I didn't miss much. I tried my local spot couldn't get on . Rain and warm weather killed the edge.I will give it hell next time.
Good for Jason nailing a bow before the trap even setup.

I was at a pond in the Bridgton/ sebago area.  Almost 8 inches of ice all over !!! Wheelers and sleds going the length of the lake.  Fished from noon til about 4.  Not even a flag.  Other groups around werent getting anything either.

I've had a pretty lackluster ice season overall, Gary.  But I haven't put in that much effort on the ice with the mild winter and soft water distractions.

Had a slow day also..short flurry of activity around noon but that was it....one decent pickerel, lost a mystery fish and pulled a disappointing 14 in pike..didn't want to believe there was a pike population there.

Marked fish in almost every hole throughout the day as well as finding a few huge schools of smelt. I even jigged today ;D
