TUCR..
« on: Jan 28, 2016, 12:37 PM »
anybody have tuned up customs? how do you like them? ive been putting in serious thought about getting a few.

the precision. the precision noodle and the quick tip.

cant decide if i want to continue with the spinning reels on these new rods or if i want to get into the inline reels. open to all input on this topic as it wont be easy on the pocket to make the changes. i currently run st croix and lightning rods with various spinning reels. probably going to stick with spinning reels on the quick tip and the precision as those will be my go-to rods for perch and walleye. putting in serious thought for an inline on the precision noodle for finicky gills and small jigs and plastics.

If you are interested in how some of the rods might operate while under use I would suggest watching a few InDepth Outdoors videos on Youtube. They've been sponsored by TUCR for the last few seasons, just find a show with a species you would be interested in targeting and somewhere in the show they will talk about their setup.

i watch their show on a regular basis. that is where i originally learned about the rods and then have been looking around. but was hoping to hear of anyone that had their own set-up. i can only believe and trust so much information from a video or internet. im more of a hands on person.

ido is by far the best show to watch for tips and gear techniques and successfull strategies. i.m.o.

I have two on order right now!! I'd definitely recommend calling them because they're only located in stores near Minnesota. Their rods are designed to the type of lures you're using, so it helps to get their opinion. I just left a message, and they called back the next day.

- Commander Rod for for big water walleye like Erie. (1/8oz-2/3oz lures)
- Bullwhip Rod for panfish (3mm-5mm tunsten jigs). This rod has a longer backbone than their precision noodle. This makes it more stiff, better for windy days.

They look awesome. I'm not a fan of flimsy noodle rods. This seemed to solve the problem with having a noodle tip on a firmer rod.

In-depth Outdoor blogs help too.  I'll do a review once I get em in! Hope this helps.

going on my third year with the two I have 36' precision they are nice but there are some rod builders right here that would give them a run for the money, I have them paired with 6061 black betty reels.  GRIFF
fishing is hard can I go home now

I have a precision noodle and a bullwhip.  I'd have to say the bullwhip is usually the first rod I grab when fishing.  Both are very nice rods.  I run both spinning and inline (bb 6061). On my rods.  But as stated above there's a few guys on here that put out some very nice rods.  I'm a firm believer in gaffight rods.  Also I've been kicking around the idea of getting one of brickers microliners just to see what the hype is all about.

They are all very nice rods. It comes down to personal preferences. My personal preferences for panfish are 2lb line on a Bricker Microliner paired with a Shimano CI4+1000 FAML. spinning reel. If your into fishing springs I'd use a stiffer rod so it's not whipping all over the place in the wind. The St  Croix Avid glass rods are sweet imo. It's fun trying different setups if you have money to experiment with.

I agree, it is nice to try different rods out, I`m digging my st .Croix avid glass rod as well with an okuma reel.  the bait shop in bass lake (by the marina)  has a decent selection of ST. Croix ice rods if you want to get them in your hand before you buy.
