Pearly Lake in Rindge
« on: Feb 02, 2016, 09:34 AM »
Where is the access on Pearly in Rindge? They don't have a public ramp to they? Anyone have any experience on this lake that they would like to share?
Cheers,

Pete

The only public access is what the lake association calls a boat launch... It's really just a clearing on a steep bank on the side of a narrow road. If you don't know someone it's tough to get on in a good spot. Luckily, Mountain Brook, Pool, Grassy, Bullet and Hubbard are all within 5 minutes and are all better fisheries. Contoocook lake is right there too, and a great fishery but you gotta keep your head on a swivel or you may get run over...

Thanks so much for the info! So do you fish those bodies of water much? What would you recommend? I am looking for easy foot access, safe ice, and a variety of species. I typically target panfish jigging and bass or pike on tip ups. Any info is appreciated.
Cheers,

Pete

It's near my neighborhood so I know them all pretty well. They are all Bass ponds with the typical Largemouth, Yellows, Gills, and Pickerel... Mountainbrook and Contoocook lake will also have Crappies and maybe an odd smallie here and there. Easiest access for walkers is Grassy... lots of parking and a huge area to walk on so naturally it's also going to be crowded at times, also has a few springs so use your spud. Hubbard is going to be the toughest access, but probably gives you the best chance at a big Largemouth. They are all very similar as far as depths, and structure. Of them all Bullet is my favorite but is really only accessable during the winter by snowmobile.
As far as them having safe ice right now... no clue, gotta check that yourself. I was on a few of them 2 and 3 weeks ago and the ice was acceptable to me...

I think with the weather the way it is forecast the ice could be in trouble. I am only just a little south of you there and our ice was approx 8" on Saturday but must be suffering now. May I ask what was acceptable to you? Thanks again for all the information. If you ever need any info on my neck of the woods (NC MA to CT River) please feel free to ask.
Cheers,

Pete

4"-6" clear with 1"-2" junk on top. Plenty to be comfortable in my setup where I had checked well, but still puckered a little while venturing around with the spud.

Pool pond has a easy access landing where you can park and walk on.   When do you plan on heading out?  I'll be checking ice late Friday for a Sat trip in that area.

Most of the guys on the Mass boards here on IceShanty are trying to have a gathering on the CT river on saturday, however we are closely watching the ice to see if that's even possible. If that is called off, I will be looking for an alternative place to bring my flip over. What type of action can I expect on Pool? I have never fished it. also, it is only 3 traps in NH correct?
Cheers,

Pete

6 traps in NH unless managed for lakers and/or salmon and then it would be a 2 trap lake.  The ones you're talking about are 6 trap waters but always good to look at NH F&G site as they will post certain restrictions for certain bodies of water.

+1 Like sorelippin said the lakes by Pearly and Pool are all 6, but if you're ever not sure always check with NH F&G  http://www.wildlife.state.nh.us/fishing/ice-fishing.html

Pool has pickerel, large mouth bass, yellow perch, bluegill, and pumpkinseed.

Cheers,
