Lake Frances Fishing
« on: Jan 04, 2016, 04:59 PM »
I am planning a trip up to Frances in a couple days.  My question is would you rather be at the lighthouse side or over by the island?  I have caught a few pike by the lighthouse (ice fishing) and few walleye by the island (by boat).  I would like to catch both through the ice, do pike make their way around the island?
I wish I knew how to do this!!

We have fished there quite a bit in the past and have mostly fished towards the lighthouse and did fairly well on pike and ling... I can't see why pike wouldn't be around the island, it's a nature structure so I imagine they would frequent it looking for baitfish.

We've caught pike around the island in past years through the ice.  Haven't tried that area recently.

Here now.  Light house side down a ways by all the trees.  1 pike so far with smelt.  I am on a nice weed bed but nothing while jigging.

Find where  tHe weed bed ends or there is an opening in the weed bed. Set up on the edge of it.
