A cooler and a battery operated air pump or corded if you access to power. I have a frabill battery ran air pump and works pretty good.

I keep them in a 5 gallon bucket and change water once a day.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I use an igloo water cooler(3-5gal) drill a hole up top attach your aerator to the cup holder keeps minnows from freezing in the winter and cool in the summer

Are you near a stream or pond that you can get new water everyday?  May seem like a dumb question, but I would only have tap water to replace with if I did it daily...

i'm told tap water left to stand a day looses the chlorine in it and is better for minnows.
I am haunted by waters...

No stream nearby, but as legend said I let the bucket sit before using the water.  Just to be safe, I let the water sit 48 hours before putting in with the minnows.  I also don't fill the 5 gallon bucket up - say about 1/3 to 1/2 way depending on how many minnows I have.  Right now I've got about a dozen walleye fatheads and 3 to 4 crappie minnow scoops of minnows and only fill the bucket up 1/2 way.

Whoops - forgot to say that I also have a bubbler in the bucket.  Sorry about that.

If I don't change the water, the water gets foul and kills them off.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I use a true minnow bucket and an aerator, but I use tap water and just keep a bottle of water treatment that you use for goldfish tanks to declorinate and balance the pH.

Thanks everyone for the info!  I have minnows in a 5 gal bucket with a bubbler in the garage and they seem to be fine so far.  I will now have to pay more attention to changing my water!

As far as feeding the minnows what are people using?

No need to feed them a biologist told me they can live 6 months with very minimal food, as far as keeping them alive a 110volt aerator is better than changing batteries all the time but if a battery operated pump is all you have that'll be fine, and change the water every other day. Good Luck!
