I bought minnows in Devils lake ND over the holiday week, $2 a scoop, froze them and bagged them up and got 6+ dozen from one scoop.  Oh I sure miss plentiful bait.

Tinker,
where did you get the minnows in Devils Lake?
if you're too busy to go fishing, you're too busy

Home of economy on highway 2 east side of town.  Used to stop at a place that was just south of town before you cross the lake, think it was a bar/bait shop but I forget the name.  I don't know if its still there I didn't even look as we drove by.  They were 1.50 a scoop in grand forks, I think that was also home of economy and the same 6+ dozen per scoop for the crappie minnows, probably a few less for the regular minnows.  They didn't have an option in DL, they were crappie minnows, but frozen crappie minnows are better than no minnows ;D

We didn't fish that week, just visited family for x mas.  They were just getting out on the ice on the 26th of Dec, no snowmobiles or 4 wheelers and everyone close to the parking lots so I assume it was pretty skinny at that time.

Its really too bad...I've bought bait here as long as I can remember. its always been a "good ol boy" bait shop. Its a shame they are cutting off the hand who fed them and helped them grow. >:(

How exactly are they cutting off the hand that fed them?   I can't honestly believe they survived this long selling bait to the public in Billings.  It ain't like we live in a major fishing area with a large population of fisherman.  You think they made this decision because they don't enjoy selling you and I bait?  I'm guessing they were having a hard time getting by, off selling a dozen minnows or crawlers here and there to the general public.  To be honest every time I bought bait from them in the past I would always make sure to spend at least $50 there anyways to make it worth their while for being there.   I to hate to see them not have their doors open every day but by no means can I blame them for going the route they have chosen.
