Iceing Kokanee
« on: Jan 29, 2016, 09:26 AM »
:)Hey all! Well, stuff happens so the Hawg Derby trip morphed into a trip to Granite with the grandkids for the weekend. While I've got them busy with the stocker Rainbows I'd like to try for some of the Kokanee I hear are in there. I've never fished for Kokees through the ice before but have read some of the threads from back east on this forum and will try an attracting flasher with about 6 to 8 in dropper tipped with a spike or Shoepeg corn in deep water. Question I have is this; Is any body in our neck of the woods had any luck targeting Kokees through the ice and what has worked for you? I'll be using a Vex 18 and I've got a BIG box of open water Kokee stuff but just wondering how to use some of it under the ice. Many thanks guys and stay safe!

I think you probably have a better chance of catching a walleye out of Granite than a koke... I don't think too many people target kokes through the ice in SE Wyoming but occasionally I hear about guys targeting them on the ice at the Gorge.  Hopefully someone with the know how will help you out... I think they will eat a variety of things its more just finding them.
