Removing handle on Buddy Heater
« on: Dec 13, 2015, 09:42 AM »
I have the older Mr. Buddy with the stationary handle.  The handle sits too high to fit in a container with my gear.  Thought I might cut the handle off and replace it with something more flexible or reattach so it folds down.  Has anyone done this and have an example or any tips.   Looks like it's just plastic do should be easy to cut through, but not sure if it will cause more problems doing this.

i had one apart, but was a hassle to open to modify the thermo coupler.

here's an idea. these are low profile kayak handles. should be able to find them cheaper like amazon. just keep it out of any heat flow so it doesn't melt. image shows it with hardware under the handle, but most boats have it laid out instead for mounting.
