Do transducers attract fish ?
« on: Feb 20, 2022, 01:26 PM »
I general fish for pike with one tipup and one jigging hole with my older humminbird fish finder as more of a guide of depth and structure. I never really paid attention but when the transducer sits on the ice there is a steady ticking and when fishing with friends who don't use finders I seem to catch more fish. Is it just luck?

I use a sonar and camera and I have never thought either has any effect. I have panfish come right up to the camera and stare at me.

You bring fish up when you see them on the screen, no? That's a big difference right there.

Transducers don't attract fish, Proper jigging techniques do! ;)

have wondered the same thing.  i suppose its possible the noise attracts fish.  never seen any studies about it though.  if pike are hitting them there is something going on.

I had a big rainbow trout, tail slapped my transducer, then came up the other hole to see if I would touch the transducer.  I mean, how do such a fish even know how to.  Plus it's was almost midnight and I wasn't expecting the trout to be active.

Burbot commonly bother transducers... Some fish sense vibration better than others
