Well, Guess It’s Time....

To get the gear tuned up. Gotta be some ice soon, somewhere!

Been holding off on getting mousees. Gonna do that next week.

Re-lining a couple jig rods this weekend. Seaquar 4# and Asso 2# on a couple.

Got this running and picked up a 10” SM Lazer to put on my 25 yr old Magnum III power head.

Got a bunch of this stuff for rolls and stew to share, and a nice bunch of venison!

I'm going tomorrow. I want to be first. There's a 22 acre pond near me that always freezes early because of the surrounding topography. Half of it is not even waist deep which makes me feel relatively safe. The only fish I ever caught in the shallow end were tiny bullheads. At least I'll be on the ice.

The mora extension slides into the shaft and had three length choices. Mostly got that one cause just the mora shaft seems kinda short. Planned the SM extension for the tanaka too, but am just putting the new laser bit on the old SM power head.

I went but chickened out. As soon as I started drilling the ice started cracking and dropped about two inches under my weight. Getting wet and cold isn't worth a few fish that are too small to filet.

Wow Joe! You sure are ready to rock & roll. ;D  I love the variety of auger adapters that you have. If I put an extension on that Nils bit of mine, I'd need a step ladder to run it.  I hate that thing, it's going bye, bye, & I'll stick with the Mora for my Tanaka.   You're going to really be impressed with your new Tanaka.

One year  at least 15 yrs ago we had thick ice up north. I had an extension made for one of my Jiffys and haven't used it yet like MG 39 says you need a stepladder to get it started.

Yeah on all that.That mora bit seemed short, so I got the option with options. ;) I just got the extension for the SM shaft cause that would be for thicker ice....some year, while the mora would do up to a good 18”+ w/o bending over. The plan has evolved, as a plan should.  ;D

There is no way your going to drill more holes with that auger than pictures that you have posted of it.  :)

It’s starting to look that way!  :o

Looking like the spud will get the first ice. Chop, Chop!  :thumbsup: :icefish:

A couple days with over a foot will give er a good workout though :flex:

Some of us poke 30+ in a morning.  ;)

Some of us don’t set tip-ups/ traps. I just jig for the most part. I will often poke 8 - 10 holes before I even drop a line.  We’ll keep putting holes in til we’re on em. Sonar might help yer “ Heering”  ;D :icefish:

That's the way I do it carrying the spud sure beats carrying all the weight of traps and auger.
