I have the whole winter free.
« on: Sep 28, 2016, 10:25 AM »
I used to just be able to icefish one day a week due to being a single father with custody and the whole inconvenient work thing. Last winter I went out twice but it was too painful due to hip issues. I just got my second hip replaced and with rehab I should be good to go in a month. The good news is that I wont be working all winter. Looks like I'll be ice fishing every day. Woo whoo!

AVN by any chance?  I have it in both hips.  Left is further along, but the right causes the most pain.  Been putting off surgery cause I'm such a chicken.  lol  I hate hospitals and Dr's in general.  Any words of advice for me on the surgery?

Severe osteoarthritis due to trauma from a parachute jump in the Army. It's a military service connected disability so I had my surgeries at the VA and am on temporary disability until I'm fully recovered. I'd say do it as soon as possible. I wish I had done it a couple years ago before it got as bad as it did. The surgery and time in the hospital was no fun but it was definitely worth it. I just got my left hip replaced 2weeks ago and am still walking with a walker but the pain is gone. My right hip was done in March and feels as good as new. If you go through a civilian hospital I have heard great things about Dr. Fox with Concord orthopedics.

New hips sound wonderful! I have been putting that off myself. Just got finished with a big project, so I too will be able to fish a ton this winter! Tight lines, Prospector.

Dr Fox good choice.
Cannot go wrong with him or Dr Wiley. Both excellent. They'll get you back up and running. Both do excellent work. I've seen it first hand. Enjoy your winter off
