nope...I just use some 5 minute epoxy, put it on the fabric, wrap around the steel flag rod, and then put something heavy on it unti it hardens..(just put  apiece of paper or something between the heavy object and the flag do you don't epoxy the flag to a brick or something....

;D I've used a dab of clear silicon caulk and a staple on some that I've replaced. Seemed to work pretty good.

Yeah I've used those methods. Just wondered how those clips worked. Even emailed HT but no response. I guess they can't figure it out too.

I purchased a few of these this weekend and my wife and I sat around the woodstove and tried to figure it out.  I ended up using them to attach my bells directly to the flag.

Works ok.
I'd rather be fishing!

I had wondered about the clips myself, and then it hit me that they are similar to a paperclip. I just folded the flag material over the metal and split the circle clip and pushed it over the fabric. The clips seem to have little barbs on them that once on are hard to pull off. they are holding up pretty good so far: no flags falling off YET! I hope this will help. Now all I need is safe ice!

I have used these replacement flags in the past and have found using a hot glue gun works well. I never could get the flags to stay on if it got windy using those clips that come with the replacement flags.

Hey adkroy, I also use a hot glue gun to fix my flags on my tip ups.

I just go to wally world or a craft store grab some felt cut it to size grab the glue gun and attach it. Works like a charm. Cost me less than $1.50 to do 10 flags

I never had success using hot glue to attach them. Any slight wind seemed to blow them off. I ended up sewing them on. Maybe because I'm using 6" flags instead of the normal 3"?

I have never had luck with the glue gun myself.  I wound up buying the spring steel with the flag aready attached and stapled a larger flag to it.

Try getting your hands on one of those large flags that they use to direct traffic.  then you can cut them out to whatever size you want.
