The tried and true industry standard nail clipper test! LOL That ML looks to have some good flex too.

I just used one because everyone pretty much knows how much a set of toenail clippers weigh, so it could show the flex of the UL.

Imagine a big ol perch on there!

Lol jammer, it feels great and it will prob be my go to rod for everything, but I will say I wish it had a little bit more backbone, I will say i'd hate to hook into a 10 lb squantz walleye with it, would be afraid it would snap lol, I'm def. Gonna get a medium though, just noticed my st croix premier has a crack in the cork and want a back up/new main M rod...

Darn, it looks like I saw this post 12 hrs too late.  I ordered the 26ML and I now might regret it.  It looks too soft from the nail clipper test of the 28ML.  I was going off of Fenwick's site where it stated that the Med was 4-8lb test and the ML was 2-6lb.  I wish I lived closer to stores that sell the rods, as it's hard to order them without getting a feel for them in the hand first.

I know the feeling Aqualift, I usually have to buy online without getting to see stuff firsthand.

The ML is very durable.....a lot more than the raw graphite blanks. Mine loads up half way with a lot of line tension...basically bends in half......"sorta a deakstick rod".

When you apply a lot of line tension to the Medium, what are your results? I'm curious, since you mentioned it has lots of backbone.

I went into the store to check them out fearing the ML might be too soft, after checking out this thread. I played with the 27" M and 28" ML for a while I feel that I made the right choice and went with the ML. It won't be great for bigger lures of course but it seems very sturdy and has a really nice play and feel to it. As for the 10 pound eye comment earlier, I have seen bigger fish caught on smaller rods. I wouldn't be too concerned with a break if your drag is set correctly.

I don't think the guys that went ML will be disappointed, nor will the guys that went M (my roommate went for the M). They feel like an excellent rod and the price point is just right at $25 CDN. The tip is very sensitive but the backbone feels strong and sturdy on both rods. Amazing feel to the handle, very sensitive hard cork.

Fenwick is going to sell a ton of these things! Can't wait to get her out on the ice.

the ML should be a good walleye finesse rod with smaller baits.

I just got my 26" ML today and I really like the handle design. It's very comfortable and well balanced with my reel.  The rod is a bit softer than I had hoped for, but it feels sturdy enough to land the occasional 20" plus rainbow that I hook onto. Most of the time I'm fishing for trout in the 12" range.  I went with the shorter 26" rod for use in my very small shelter.

How small? This will be my first year starting to target larger fish on a jig rod and am not sure. Something like a darter be too big?

They are nice rods, some of the nicer off the shelf rods that I have seen.  But I find that there are too many eyes, and the eyes they are using are too heavy for the blanks.  They alter the action of the rod, more so on the lighter action rods.

Just my $.02

Took my 28" ML out this weekend, caught pike up to 4 lbs, walleye up to 5lbs, a few perch, tullibee, and a burbot.

Great opening weekend, great rod!

I bought one saturday for 25.00.  after i got it home and compared it to my st. croix its not as nice.  its more along the lines of one of my cheaper berkely rigs imo.  but its not a bad rig im going to use it.  i have a 27 medium
