when does ice fishing season end?

Sorry Klrjay I am in new york. I don't know about Vermont on Trout after March 15th. In new York the lake's that are available for ice fishing, remain open.

After the 15th f March, Walleye, all trout/salmon, Bass must be released, and may not be targeted (At least this is my understanding). You may still fish for warm water species until ice out. Includes, Perch, Bluegill, sunfish, pickerel, etc.

It lasts until the ice is gone. The late ice is always the best fishing. Just hard to get on when it goes away along the shore. That is when planks and flat bottomed boats work.

in ny the ice fishing season ends april 30th you can use tip ups untill then you can use hand held rods any time

You can still fish for trout / salmon on Lake Champlain after 3/15.  The only thing that closes March 15th on Champlain is walleye.
