Your favorite panfish jig?
« on: Mar 06, 2015, 06:26 PM »
What's your favorite jig and why? I really like the VMC tungsten tubby 1/64 because the hook is more sturdy than any other brand I have.

Bought some tubby's haven't used em yet- glad to hear about the hooks, that's why I bought em.

When tough bite I like Moon glos'.

Favorite - I just started using 5mm Wolfram tungsten glow pink as a starter in new hole - alot larger than I usually use, but I like the way I can get back down quick and hit a couple before they move on, or at least bring em in.

Nope I had a partner in Wisconsin, we used to sell them to mom n pop shops and to guys on the ice, if they weren't jerks.  Back in the 60's  Used to fool the fish, they must have thought they were plankton, or the little hatches they were feeding on.

Chekai,Marmooska,Diamond,Ratso's,100th oz leadhead with Spiiki, Jamei,Clam plastics or my homemade bloon tails on any of the above jigs. I use very little bait this year. Also did very well with my hand tied jig flies small 100 th oz leadheads, with buck tail or squirrel tail, add a couple strands off chartreuse flash.

All my favorites or go-to jigs were a flop this year. Sure they caught some, but didn't pull ONE slob out with 'em. So, like most people I went and spent a lot of money on other jigs or spoons.

Did like some of the custom jigs and spins stuff!

My favorite by far this season for Crappie was a glow jig with a added glass and tungsten bead used to make a little noise when jigging!!!!
