Iverson, why don't you join a forum for Dbag, flatlanders who whine a lot?  Did I miss your posts with all YOUR big fish?  There's no proof that your not a hiker who complains a lot, say nothing of a "trophy fisherman". I'll let you know the next time I catch a 30" perch, sunfish, or crappie.  Keep on being a hero in your own mind, and feel free to go back to whatever coastal state you came from.

Does anyone have a report on the condition of the road out to Campbell's?  I was hoping to go out early next week for a truckload of 14" perch!  Thanks!

Not bad, just hammer down and make sure you stay on the road- some of the drifts are hard but you can get a running start and go through most of them or back out and go around. Slow bite today, only half a truckload.
The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable,
a perpetual series of occasions for hope.

Took my wheeler out and decided due to the wind to target perch rather than flat fish. The trucks were doing Ok and made their own road out to the sunny grounds. Yesterday the snow was hard packed and easy for my wheeler. Later today due to the warmer temps the crust was breaking down. I did Ok moving about and could see the trucks were doing OK too. The worst part is the first 1/4 mile off the launch.

How is the snow if you get off the road?

Not bad at all. The worst spots are where the old road was. I plan to head out tomorow weather permitting and try for flat fish. The perch bite wasn't bad and will be my fall back if the wind is up.

Thank you for the updates.  I've never been up there before, but I want to try it.  It's an hour+ drive for me, so I appreciate knowing what I'm getting into.

this forum is a joke.  you have a good 80 members on the Vermont section regularly and I see maybe 2 actual fishing reports a week, and I try to be one of them.  everybody comes on here says *getting a few here* or *dead sea so and so*  without giving so much as to how much ice they are seeing.  its a bunch of lazy lurkers.
I actually try and give well thought out reports on what im seeing on the ice and I cant expect the same in return. 90% of the threads on here are people just shaking their penis into the blustery cold wind.  so enjoy. please, I got to get back out and do some actual fishing. ill report what I see later,  I wont expect anybody to do the same though.
you joke about FLATLANDERS but in reality when I lived in CT for a few years the fishing forum there was great. honest detailed BUT NOT SPOT BURNING reports that benefited everybody and resulted in a good report with most of the users. just some food for thought.  and P.S CT is a  SH**HOLE for a state.
You are joke/jerk!

Will the warm weather help or hurt the road condition out to the sunfish grounds?

I think it is already helping it. The best thing that happened was someone made a new road off the plowed road. The plowed road filled in with snow drifts and was impossible to get through. That's just my opinion.

Got it... We had a pretty good day. Catching a few perch here and there and the occasional bullhead. My son caught 2 northerns on a ultra light pole with 4 lb test and a bibbet. I caught two as well, the first one very small, but my second one a personal best through the ice. It weighed in at 6.96 lbs. Was a blast to catch on a ultra light jig pole with only 4 lb test. It took at least 10 mins until i could finally see his head. We had a blast, conditions were good, the fish were biting ok, got to me a fellow Ice Shanty regular, and made some lifelong memories with my boy.

....Well the road conditions aren't great; but people are still getting around. I have a feeling that may be short lived with this warm weather, Getting off the ice tonight was getting sketchy...a foot and a half of water on the road. I had my ATV and followed my friend and Champ Is.
I wouldn't chance it with my truck.

As of last night they were still driving on. The good news is that this warm weather has eliminated all the snow. The bad news is that it turned it into 1-2" of water. It's awesome if you want a good under carriage wash!
Getting on is not going to be easy. We found an alternate place to drive our ATV's off yesterday.

Due to the wind I didn't go up to Campbells to try it but was wondering how the ice was now that we had so much water last night. I looked out the back of the house and it didn't look wet on the west side of North Hero so I figured I would go out in the wind sit behind the wheeler and try for a few perch. The wind was tough and it wasn't much fun driving over that ice. Some of the water was still there but it had a skim of ice on top. The wheeler would go along and suddenly it would drop down when it hit an area where the water remained. I would be in 6" of water and have to gun it to get out and back on top and then it would happen all over again. I knew it was good ice but it still gave me the creeps. Decided to not go any further and I imagine Campbells will be about the same.

Same thing down on Abenaki.  The shoreline had a layer of ice with 2" to 3" of water under it.  Though most of the ice there is bare now.  Ya gotta love warm weather and 30+ inches of ice.
