How bad is the slush?
« on: Mar 11, 2015, 09:09 PM »
I'm headed out tomorrow to the islands.  I'm just wondering on the slush on the ice.  I'm gonna walk out so I'm assuming I won't be able to drag out the portable?  Gonna hit the Gut or Dillenback tomorrow.  Will post conditions after.  How is it getting out to Campbell's now?   I might try that on Friday.

Going on at campbells yesterday wasn't bad. Lots of slush but it was ok on the wheeler. I fished all day and when I got off I had to drive through lots of water all the way back from the sunnie grounds. Anywhere near that plowed road the water was deep often close to 8-10". It was a mess at the launch and I rammed the wheeler back to the parking lot through the deep snow off the summer ramp. Really windy right now so I might not go out but I expect the water will be gone because of the cold and wind. Watch out for the pike holes getting bigger. What we don't need now is snow covering everything up. I will take the time to mention this though...since the snow left all the dink fish not returned to the lake are laying around. I urge everyone to do the right thing and put them back alive rather than leave them on the ice. I know of one great flatfishing parking spot that was lost because the landowner got sick of seeing dead fish left on the ice.

Great update 'Islander. I found more water than slush on the ice yesterday, and I agree.  It should drain off and firm up.  I found 8" holes that had grown to 12".

Don't be afraid of the slush people!  Get out there and fish.  I had a much better day yesterday.  I can't stand to fish on a windy day like today, but tomorrow it's back to it.
I fish better Hungry.

Yeah there wasn't any slush today.  This really changed in a few days.  The surface is looking pretty good.
