More monster crappies
« on: Mar 02, 2015, 07:08 PM »
Posted picture from early February from this pond where we caught many big bluegill up to 10" and I caught a 14" crappie. Fished again this weekend. Not as fast as last time but on Saturday afternoon I caught 2 (13") and 1 (14") crappie and my buddy caught a 15" crappie. My buddy and I also iced 26 bluegills probably averaging 9- 9 1/2" with some 10's. Next day I fished a few hours before dark alone and took close to a dozen more bluegills and I caught a 15" crappie. Released the biggest crappies to fight another day. All fish 20 or more feet deep.

Them are some brutes. How many acres is the pond? I don't see too many with 20 fow. Must be why the fish are growing so big.

Nice looking fish.  Very good pond at 20'.  I've been getting some 13" and 14" in a pond that's only 10' deep and very small.  They have replaced the big gills I used to get out of there.

Thanks for all the comments. Pond is probably 3-4 acres and has produced nice fish over the years. The deepest spot is probably 25 feet. It is pretty far off the interstate but has characteristics of pits dug during the interstate construction.

Never heard that monster but good eating
“Many of you have in your veins Geman and Italian blood. But remember that these ancestors of yours so loved freedom that they gave up home and country to cross the ocean in search of liberty. The ancestors of the people we shall kill lacked the courage to make such a sacrifice and remained slaves.” — George S. Patton
