Elite 5 Chirp ?

For those of you that have this unit and use it for ice as well as open water ,how does the down imaging work with the standard skimmer transducer? Or do you have to buy the HDI ducer to get it to work? Im wanting to get the ice and use it open water rig also. Thanks Don

the down scan will not work with the ice ducer you have to buy the standard ducer for open water use and down scan

The skimmer has both the low freq std sonar transducer and the high freq DI transducer contained within. Lowrance also sells elite 4&5 hdi units with skimmers that just have the low freq std transducer -not sure if they are doing that with the Chirps.
