When did Strikemaster buy O.P.E.?

I just rebuilt the Walbro carb on my old O.P.E. Magnum III Plus 49cc 8" ice auger.  She's running like new again.

I know I've had this thing a long time, but can't remember just how long... does anyone know when they went from O.P.E to Strikemaster?
Ser.# TC300 3026B 9338G   
Judging by the engine serial number, I'm guessing it's a 1989.
