I have used them for years, the only problem is fitting ice cleats over them due to their size profile

Do you know what the air valve is for? It has nothing to do with anything we would use these boots for. I have been using a pair for years without the valve and IMO they are the only boots for ice fishing I will ever need. Traction isn't the greatest, and they are hard to get on but are great otherwise.
Take me fishin!

The Mickey boots are usually army surplus and have an air valve for equalizing air pressure in a plane. I tried mickeys on and they were brutally heavy I ended up going with baffin trappers much lighter and more comfortable in my opinion also the baffin Titan is even warmer just a bit bulky for my taste.

Mickey boots are probably the best value boot. I haven't seen any other boots under $50 (and Mickey's are usually less than that) that are even close to as warm. There pretty heavy and not the most comfortable, but that's not a huge deal to me cause I'd rather have warm feet.

X2!  Only difference is, I find them to be comfortable.

I'm on my 2nd pair. Last ones lasted 11 years but dry rotted. Very warm. A little bulky. But I'll trade the bulk for warm dey feet. You can actually put water in with ur feet & they'll wa up in no time. I do recommend getting a good pair of arch supports or Dr schoels or something . Really helps in stiffening the floppy sole. I also take 1/4" stainless hex head screws & screw them into the bottom for ice cleats. Work great. Had em on for three seasons now.
Don't horse em!

Bought my son a pair of Muck boots for X-Mas, he has had white mickeys in the past, he wore the mucks this past week and said that's the only boot he will ever own from now on!!  They are super light also!

HT makes a pair of cleats that fit. You might need to order them online but they are the size 13 and up biggest they make.

I bought the Mickey Mouse boots a month ago from Ebay for $34.00 with free shipping.  Best money I've spent this season and totally worth the money.  My biggest pet peeve while ice fishing is cold feet, these boots are warm and waterproof.  I've walked through slush and 6+" inches of snow and never felt cold or got wet.  I wear a size 8 and ordered a size 8.  The boots run large, so I wear a couple of wool socks and it fits perfect.   So far as weight, they may seem heavy, but I don't notice them as I don't mind as long as my feet are warm.   Also, for additional traction, I added # 8 (1/2 Inch) sheet metal hex screws.  I anticipate using these for a long time.

I have a pair of the white ones (Bunny Boots) that are rated for colder temps than the black ones (Mickey Mouse) and they keep your feet warm.  You'll be dead before you get cold feet in them.
