« on: Jan 09, 2006, 09:27 AM »
I was wondering if anyone could give me some information on Chautauqua ice conditions and being out of state where could I get a license around the Mayville area?
How much ice do you need?

Deerslayer thanx for the info and when your talking "iffy" are you talking 3 inch iffy or 5 inch iffy. Just don't want to by the license if the ice is bad and not going to hold up. Everything here in northwest Pa is pretty much shot.

Was in mayville yesterday. Very iffy ice conditions 3-4 inches o.k. ice with 4 inches of slush and water on top. Fishing same as always 100's of dinks for a handful of keepers. Did see one NUT out on a snowmobile i wouldnt advise it though. As far as the rest of the lake seems almost impossible to get on due to the ice on shore or lack thereof stepped through at long point and prendergrast its got to get cold soon!
