7 is the minimum I will bring mine out on, weighs in at same as urs. just remember that weight changes when you add sleds, tips, heater, fuel, food, booze, and 4 buddies, 1600 quickly reaches almost 2500 or more. as a side note that I learned from experience, make sure you check your tires and axle ratings, I built mine on an old 8X8 trailer as well, turns out that older ones had lower weight ratings, blew out a tire (rated for 600lb), and this fall had one of my bearings and hub give way, and then catch fire from friction (60 mph X about 1.5 minutes before I found a place to pull over), turns out the axle and hubs were only rated for 1300 lb and with gear I was at 2000+
