Why would you want to fish there?  The chemicals they used to eradicate the weeds destroyed the fishing. Just ask the folks at Bait and Boat.

Lake Musconetcong, 25 years ago, was a fantastic body of water to fish. We caught a lot of large mouth bass, big pickerel, crappie and perch. Now with the weeds that choked the lake, and the chemicals that were added to kill the weeds the fishing became quite poor compared to the way it used to be. I hope in the future, it comes back to the way it used to be.

beartrack is right! This use to be a great fishing lake; :'( living in Netcong my whole life. Very few fish caught there in years no matter how many lines you put in the water!...it's a shame- 320 acre lake.

Anyone remember the hydroplane races they used to have there in the late '70's? I was a safety boat for one of the summer races
and my dad had old super8 movies of it. It was a really nice looking lake back then...

Hello all- first post on the site.

I was out jigging on Musconetcong yesterday for about 5 hours, got a few perch and saw some guys with tip ups who were getting some action.  Didn't see anything crazy, but there were fish being caught. Ice was anywhere from 4-7 inches.

I had a pretty decent summer on the lake with the Kayak also. Planning on being out there again next weekend.

Bowfished it a few times and saw plenty of fish. Lots of good size bass, hybrids, panfish. Looked like a great place to catch fish

No hybrids in lake musconetcong.
that's a pretty bold statement, did you empty the lake and survey every fish in the lake personally?

There were some hybrids that washed down from lake hopatcong a few years ago.So whatever is in hopatcong has the potential to be in there.

I've done a few podcasts, interviews for newspaper articles, filmed a show for the travel channel this past summer that should air in the spring. Wanted to get down To the ATA show to see if I could get some filming funds and make a few more connections for a few trips but I never made it. Still going ahead and doing some filming in Louisiana, kentucky, new York and Massachusetts so far planned but thanks for the suggestion but I think I have it covered

How much ice is on the Musconetcong? ???

This past Saturday I had anything from 4-7.5 inches. Back corner by where the old train tracks run was 4, opposite side by Allen at was 7.5.

not to be a wiseass but I have pics somewhere of my buddy and 3 hybrids pulled out of muscanetcong back by the island.  There is every species of fish pretty much in there, alot of you never saw the lake after hurricane Irene and the water flows over the dam and down the river.  I also know a guy who pulled a small tiger musky out of there in 2010 about 20" so you never know whats downstream

It's true, anything in lake hopatcong has a chance to make it into lake musconetcong and also the musconetcong river!  No matter how small a chance and how short lived its existence there must get be

Exactly mark.I bet you a certain lake will have a bunch visitors this week. They make it too easy. When I get back from upstate I'll give you a call.Speaking of stripers caught a bunch New Years day in a river that rhymes with back in black.

i personally watched a kid pull a small walleye out of the musconetcong river below lake hopatcong going towards lake musconetcong and my friend saw a guy catch a hybrid striper from lake musconetcong (didn't see that one with my own eyes but my friend wouldn't just make that up to me anyway).  either way just seeing the walleye down below and out of lake hopatcong is enough proof for me that it's possible...no one's saying they thrive in there or even survive the whole season, but the bottom line is it's very possible and has happened.
