where to purchase boots? Lake and Porter county
« on: Jan 08, 2015, 11:42 AM »
In desperate need of a new pair of boots (I am not sure what I want but definitely want to try them on and need them for this weekend). Should I be looking anywhere besides cabelas or basspro?

I've had the Lacrosse ice Kings for 5 years and there great. I got mine at Gander but Bass Pro is normally better having products in stock.

I got a legitimate pair of white Mickeys to replace the ones I was issued in the ANG on Ebay. You just have to make sure they are not the knock offs.

Not may boots out there you can get water in on the ice and you feet warm up the water!
I live in the midwest now but have fond memories of fishing in New England as a kid.

Thanks for the replies. I also thought about tractor supply. Just trying to get a list of places together that I need to hit.

My buddy has a pair of the mickey's and loves them. I just don't like the weight of them and the size.

Thanks again.

Tractor Supply does carry a small selection of work and winter boots.  I picked up a couple pair of Rubber Boots with 1000grams of Thinsulate a couple years ago on sale.  Use them for Ice Fishing and Cold Weather hunting, water proof and do a decent job with keeping the feet warm.  Bass Pro had used to have similar boots with 1200gr but I think they discontinued them as well as the Cabela's version that had 2000grams of thinsulate as I havent seen them dispayed this year.  Cabela's does have a pack boot that has 2000 grams that i picked upp for the wife a few weeks back but she hasnt tried them out yet.

I had a great experience with the Muck Artic Pros I picked up in 2013. They're rated for below -60 and fishing on the ice last season through our "Winter Vortex" they proved to be well worthy to my feet. Cabela's is where I bought them from. It doesn't hurt to go a size up also. Good Luck!

Have always been a mickeys boot fan until last year. Cabelas has some called trekker. They have 2,000 grams of thinsulate and are very light. My feet have never gotten cold. The best part is I won't have to walk miles with the Frankenstein boots any more. I don't need to haul any extra weight. I already have a ton. What is a extra 8 pounds on your feet, PLENTY. lol

Sportsmansguide sells brand new mickeys for 40-60 bucks. You definitally cannot go wrong there. I have the black ones as well as many of my friends and they keep their feet warm!

gander has Baffin impacts on sale for 111.99 online stores will match it, just picked up a pair yesterday, drove to Ft. Wayne to get them.

Just figured I would give an update...............

As I anticipated most places were low on stock and I needed something for Sunday (yesterday) so I drove up to cabelas first and was not happy with the selection. I then drove to Gander Mtn in Merrillville since multiple people mentioned them. I was looking for the Baffins that were mentioned in the quote above but they did not have them and so I settled for the LaCrosse IceMen. Was looking for something as waterproof as possible and was not comfortable in any Muck boots I tried but figured the Ice men were worth a try (despite not be that water proof except for the bottom). Spent the day in the IceMen boots all day yesterday and am really happy with my purchase. Feet stayed crazy warm which made me realize how bad my old pair was. The bad thing I can say about them is that they did not help me catch any fish yesterday.
