Meal Worms???
« on: Jan 08, 2015, 02:04 PM »
Company accidentally sent me 500 meals worms instead of 500 wax worms. Question is I have never ice fished with meal worms, is it worth trying or a waste of my time and just go pick up a few packs of wax worms to get me through the weekend?

Thanks in advance

bring the mealworms out with you and stop and get a pack if waxies or spikes. you never know unless you try. I have personally fished with them and they do work but I will take spikes over any other for jigging.

good luck!!

Not a big fan ...but seen guys wallop the perch with them ... I believe/read that you pinch/pop off the head hook them and strip off the hard body . I have never had much luck with them ...but never did the pop off head method . I prefer waxies and spikes

pop off the head - ok. now you put scent in the water. strip the hard body off and you got nothing left but mush

I use them all the time, they catch Perch and Trout just fine. I leave them hole and after pushing the hook through I squeeze them a little.
