Newbie looking for shanty rentals near Piseco
« on: Jan 08, 2015, 11:28 PM »
A couple friends and I are renting a place near Piseco lake for a few days next week and wanted to try out ice fishing. Most of us have some experience with regular fishing or deep sea fishing, so we have some idea of what we're doing, plus we've spent a ton of time researching the sport (been lurking on here and a few other sites for weeks now, you guys sure are informative!) but we've been having trouble finding places near that area that rent ice shelters and maybe some other equipment like augers (we might just pick one up via craigslist). We're coming up from NYC, so finding a place to rent an affordable shanty on the way up would be awesome.

Also, totally open to any beginners tips, lifehacks, etc you guys have to offer!

Some of the portable shanty's are pretty cheap, if u can afford one, buy one, maybe u will use it more.

You won't find any shanties for rent on piseco but on Great Sacandaga Lake Dave's bait and Tackle rents them.

If we can't find one to rent, any suggestions as to where we could pick up a 2-person portable one for under $150 on the way to Piseco from NYC?

Dicks Sports in Albany or Gander Mountain in Kingston. Not sure what either have in stock but should have something.
