I'm having that same problem to some extent and was trying to find a small fuel shut off I could install.

The other thing that would work is this Eskimo Auger Quick Release. and remove the power head and keep it upright

Mine had a leak at the bottom of the tank where a nut was molded into the plastic tank. When ordering a new tank they had changed the entire assembly to a universal one. It was easy to replace, seems to me there was a problem and they changed things.I tthought it was coming out off the exhaust.

Try the Ice Auger section as lenz mentioned. (child board under Equipment).  They have a standing post  just for Eskimo: “ F.O.E.A.O Eskimo Auger owners Unite”.     I’ve had great results there.

Maybe store it on a different side . Also they sell small plastic clips like alligator clips to pinch vacuum lines when working on cars, try that to pinch fuel line for storage.....

Gas cap vent screw open?
I would lay my Eskimo Barracuda with the carburetor facing up.

One other thing you can do is to pull the engine over SLOWLY until you feel max compression.... this will have the piston @ TDC and the intake and exhaust ports will be closed... this is a good thing to do whenever you store a  small engine to keep moisture out and oil/fuel mixture in...

I would suggest not wasting time or money installing a shut off. Just another thing to get gunked up down the road. Try laying the auger on the opposite side and see if that does anything for you. If not, do like I do and remove the power head and store upright. It's easier anyway to do it this way.

how old is the auger ?  does the gas tank drain right out the exaust, or is it just a little.
