Deep creek question
« on: Jan 25, 2015, 07:35 AM »
I have fished deep creek all my life but I have never tried to ice fish it at night... I was wondering if anyone has ever tried night fishing it through the ice and how they did? I was also wondering if atvs or snowmobiles are allowed on the lake in the winter? I see them all the time on the ice but I was not sure if it was legal or not....

I know that when I was younger you were not allowed snowmobiles but there was talk about making DCL a frozen trail..... I Dont really see why no atvs are allowed but snowmobiles are........

I have fished at night a few times and did well once I found fish.  I had to search a bit though.  Crappie, gills, walleye, and sometimes bass will bite readily at night.

I was there this past weekend and did well at about an hour before dark and well into dark. Fished the bay in front of lake point inn. Lots of weeds, but the holes that weren't weedy produced lots of flags. Marked fish on the vex but I'm not very patient when it comes to jiggin.all walleye one perch.

Hi everyone!
In another thread guys mentioned lack of perch this year. Do you think it's just no luck or perhaps fish moved/migrated to deeper/shallow waters? I remember when I was a kid we fished similar lake with deep spots, coves and creeks and one day somebody tried to fish in shallow creek half mile long and only 3-6 ft deep, that spot produced many perch for whole winter. You literally could see plenty fish below your hole. Therefore, did anyone try to fish shallow, creeks, etc? Maybe creek behind the bridge at state park?
Good luck out there

I spent a lot of time looking for consistent perch bite this year in deep and shallow water 9-38 feet, catching them but not as many as I wish, I think they are there but I just did not get on a good bite, also there seems to be more walleye this year what is not a bad think, fish are competing and population shifts from year to year, perch are also more dispersed and there are more dinks this year. One day after catching enough walleyes in the morning i moved to a known perch spot, tried rapala jigging raps, buckshot spoons, slender spoons, small tungsten jigs, no luck, 8 flags on tip ups and not a single fish, they were spitting the bate right away, my tip ups weren't rigged best for perch, but I also think they were there just not very active, will keep trying new spots, hope for good perch fishing later in the season.
