Today, having recovered sufficiently from New Year's, perch pounder and I headed out to the Delta diversion to try our luck for perch. We took the advice of many and headed out farther than we've ever gone before, farther than any of the other walkers, out to snowmobile territory. Whew! Sweat city! We drilled a bunch of holes, then while I went to visit our more mobile neighbors, Perch pounder set a couple of lines in. After about 15 mins of visiting, I found out that PP had already released 5 when I got back. Great! What a day it was going to be! Hmmmmmm......Nope!......that pretty well ended the perch fishing at that spot. We fished for another hour, then moved even farther out, and PP landed his biggest perch, just as Reelmaster and Miss Walleye came to visit.
It was a mighty slow day on the ice, PP landing about 10, me about 8, and we kept only the 8 largest. Not a great day, but we did meet Reelmaster and Miss Walleye, so that was fun.
Then we packed up to leave, me towing the Jet Sled;and PP the Clam 2000, carrying his backpack full of rods. Count how many rods he brought out - he says it always pays to be prepared!!!!!
He brought 10
Of course, I only brought 4, one for each of the fish I took home.
And many thanks to Reelmaster for driving us back to where the walking was easier, it probably prevented at least one heart attack!
