Introduction/Friday evening Pineview Ice Report
« on: Jan 09, 2015, 06:40 PM »
Hey everyone.  I'm new here and figured I'd introduce myself.  My name is Justin and I live in Roy.  This is my third year ice fishing and I often ice fish Hyrum, Pineview, and East Canyon, so maybe I'll see you guys out on the ice!

I swung by Pineview at about 4:00 P.M. this afternoon to check the conditions.  From the shore the ice looks super sketchy. I drilled 3 holes all ranging from 3 feet to 40 feet of water depth.  The ice was all clear and solid and between 5.5 and 6.5 inches.  There was also no slush on the edges.  This is off the North side of Cemetery Point.  I did avoid some spots that looked sketchy, so be cautious.  I'll be out there Saturday morning looking for a limit of crappie and hopefully a few perch.

I'm new here too on this board..but welcome! Nice pics...been ice fishing addict for 14 yrs. Hyrum is where I live close to, so I go there 90% of the time. Sketchy ice on hyrum now, which sucks. Been considering other options (short of picking up an Idaho license)..maybe Pineview ....did you catch many perch, or see many taken?

Perch fishing has been unusually slow, but crappie are on fire! I'm hoping hyrum gets solid soon so I can catch some perch.

kayakn - ...Just curious what's the deal with you and captainjac15? I am all about supporting each other, but in 2 consecutive threads just noticed that you posted right after he did, as if to validate him and prove he is good...I'm sure he is a great fisherman! I guess you are too! and I enjoy both your posts, but was wondering what the back -to-back, "captainjac15  is the man" posts, were all about? Probably a good buddy of yours?  its all good...just had me curious.  happy fishing!!

We did great this morning. We got about 30 on the ice and missed at least 100 light bites.  The biggest was about 8.5 inches. The bite was great from our arrival at 7:30 until about 9:30. Still haven't found a single perch. I might try hyrum next to get some perch.

HAHAHA, he is my roomate, and was looking for places to post so that he could look at the reports. I'm not so great, just another fisherman. Kind of embarassing actually. LOL.

Welcome to the shanty MXJS, the view has been very slow for perch for sure. Crappie on the other hand are outta control. Cant keep those little buggers off and by your biggest at 8.5" you know what I'm saying. I here they may put some saugeyes in the view  ??? couldn't hurt in my opion.

Hello all,  also new to this site. Liking it so far, full of all kinds of great info. Anyway pertaining to pineveiw, my neighbor went up there friday night and between four or five of them they had around 80+ crappie. Not bad for a nights work. He also said the ice was around 10" thick. Not sure where on the lake they were i assumed by cemetary point. Im itching to get out. I hit up Causey last week and got skunked by the dam. and the ice was only 4in thick.

Well... jeez, I guess cause he's a fish caller.
Unless you've known one yourself, you might think it's odd.

Don't harsh my gig too hard, I'm out of my element with ice fishing. Used to pulling big Largemouth slabs out of warm waters...
Besides, in my first post, I got edited for using words found to be offensive. Now I'm slammed on my 2nd post. Some guys never fit in, even in a virtual world...

This is a family friendly site kayakn, My vocab in person is not the most edited either. I will usually edit a few post for cursing here and there with out telling you but if it keeps up I will give you a pm warning you of such. After that its not good if you want to be a productive part of this site
