Well not gonna be able to do the sleeper shanty due to lack of ice. Thinking if we can get a trustworthy dog sitter we might try Cadillac out instead. Was thinking of maybe getting one of those double hubs to have room for our boxer tank to stay inside with us. Got a New buddy heater from Santa so keeping the dog and the boy warm shouldn't be a problem. I am hoping all this rain we're getting today don't totally destroy the shore ice as well as chew up the rest of the ice as well. Long story short, I'm kinda bummed that we won't be going to houghton, but I feel I'd have much more confident in Cadillac as I've been there several times

Awe man, I feel for ya.  I can see you were looking to take the boy out and try it on the hard water.  But this is normal weather ya know.  Be patient, it'll be here, I'm sure of it.  And you'll get a chance to use that new buddy heater LOL.

It's that hidden enjoyment of adding more things to pack more canisters to add and the weight factor added to the sled. We all enjoy the extra weight just don't know that we enjoy it... I find myself adding stuff all the time too. This year it was a propane fresh coffee maker from Coleman! I'm wandering if the filter would strain out any goodies and would heat hot enough if I used lake water. I'll find some willing to try it first! ;D

Hang in there...you'll get your chance to do that sleeper shanty. After last years bout with the snow and thick ice, i bought a quad, trailer, new tires & chains, Mi & In orv stickers, shanty carrier rack, and talked about bummed out, yesterday im sitting in the house listening to the Harleys go by, and thinking about my quad sitting in my storage shed. Have a Merry xmas....joyous new year..!

Mr wiggler, that's funny. I did the same thing. Bought an atv, new otter house, new gas auger last year. Just bought a new enclosed trailer and just got my michigan orv stickers today and now the weather bites. It's hard to sit here and wait.

On the positive side, even though Erie is not ready, you can go north 4-5 hours and likely be on safe ice.  I'm sure there will be guys heading that way after the holidays.

There are a lot of guys here that know who I am talking about.  He lives in Wabash, but is originally from the U.P.  His handle is "Yooper".  I don't know if he gets on here much anymore, but he is on the ice right now.
