Usually throw them in a 5 gallon pale but they tend to get tangled up, looking for am idea or a good bag

I use a pail but I also put rubber bands around the spools to keep the line from coming off.

I prefer my wicker pack basket holds all my gear and my lakers don't fall out like a bucket and don't get tangled

I store mine in a Trapper pack basket,  They stand up good, And I can pack jigging rod , and other things in it. On my back. While I pull my sled. Works good. Sled hauls. Auger, Vex, Chair, An other things needed.   There a little expensive  but worth it. Last forever.

I keep them in a cabelas deluxe bag (12 rod bag) and keep the lines like this....

The line trying to pull the hook keeps the spool from moving so everything stays put and since I use the tip ups a lot the rubber bands get checked to make sure they are not dried out.... usually can get a season or 2 out of the rubber bands. Also, this helps keep the leaders nice and straight and not coiling up

Picked up a loring packbasket this season, could easily fit 10 heritage lakers. The liner interior has 5 huge pockets. I also tie the hook up with thick rubber band, similar concept to the velcro straps, just place rubber band in hook, go around the reel and put the other end of the band on the reel handle or wing nut.

It must be something in the water.

I found an old tent bag that zipped up, I can get it to hold 16 traps. I also like to remove the flags when storing, that way the springs won't get banged up. Nothing worse then getting a flag and its cockeyed from a bent spring. Like some of the others have mentioned, I also found that the reel wraps work great for storage. I ended up getting mine at LL bean.
