7 day forecast--- not looking good!
« on: Dec 06, 2014, 04:38 PM »
Looking at the 7 day forecast for this side of the state is not looking good at all! Highs in the upper 30's and low 40's with rain, rain and more rain. Looks like the same even at higher altitudes. There goes the ice! Dang you November for tempting us so!

The model they use shows that temps won't drop down again until the 3rd week of this month. urgh!

This winter was forecast to be warmer and drier than normal  for most of the state. That early cold spell was an anomaly caused by the typhoon that displaced the arctic air south.

Well I haven't put the boat away just yet...

If I could make a white foam disk big enough for my flasher,  bucket, and shack I would be in heaven. That way I could have the feeling of ice fishing all the time. The mosquitoes would be weird tho.
When there is ice on the lakes, I never make employee of the month!

Did the drive up the clear water looking for some big perch yesterday,  no safe ice.... Ended up on Beavertail and caught a couple swamp donkeys and a bunch of dink perch but even that ice will not last long.  Guess I'll head to the river today and try to catch some squaw fish, they were money for big pike last year!  I'll do the ice dance this evening;)

Ice was holding up fine here today, but growing darker near shore. I dont think your ice dance is gonna help much.

Looks like the temps are suppose to start dropping Saturday. Low 30's for highs & teens for lows. Should help the ice conditions.

I think that I may just give up until the end of the month. I don't care too much for soft, cloudy ice. Maybe go fish below a dam this weekend. Toston, CF, or Hauser? All have potential...
