Powerbait and Nightcrawlers
« on: Dec 04, 2014, 09:58 AM »
The RCJ Thursday fishing reports today said that "anglers are reporting nice catches of Trout on Powerbait" and another says "catches of Perch and BLuegill on nightcrawlers". I guess I never thought of fishing either through the ice. Are some of you guys seriously having good luck with both? Curious as to how you're rigging.

I've had luck catching gills and perch on crawlers through the ice, I haven't had much luck with powerbaits at all except for hollow worms on Slow Deaths on open water

Last year at Deerfield we ran out of maggots.  Cut the tail off a white powerbait. Used just the tail on a Hali and slaughtered the perch.   Surprised both us that it worked so well.
