Sad but true! Hopefully, the Fishing Nurse sees this.
Hell, if I'd jumped on all the dames I'm supposed to have jumped on, I'd have had no time to go fishing.

Yah I guess. These forums are a blessing and a curse to the outdoors as a whole.. It's nice to share stuff but people really have to learn to have a few secrets..

I do not share information with anyone that I do not know personally.  It happened once-not a "Thank you" or "Kiss my butt", for acknowledgement-never again.  I met the individual on the lake and was informed that he had learned of this particular spot from someone on a forum.  Needless to say, I did not tell him that he got the info from me.  There has never been problem sharing info with someone that I know, because they respect and do not divulge it any further.  Great to see people catch, but a giant PO when everyone and their dog is there!!!

Well said Bushbunny

The best one is when some guy will ask what lake, where on the lake, how deep were you fishing, what hook and bait.

What time were you there, Can you keep more than one,  are the perch jumbo's are the trout all 15 inches and bigger.

Then if you post up some nice pic and won't show and tell they think you are some kind of jerk for not sharing all the info.

INFO they cannot wait to share with all there out in nowhere land.

DON'T YA JUST LOVE THE INTERNET

So sad that we have generations coming along who haven't had to work for anything their whole lives. It is hard to blame them completely."Whats that you will cry if you don't get a ribbon at the track meet too"! "Ok we'll give one to all of you". "Oh, you can't figure out how to beat that video game"? "Here have a book of cheats". "Whats that, you'll cry if you get a zero on an exam"? "We can't have that now can we, and while were at it you can't fail ...ever". They have never experienced hunger, hardship, or had to make one pair of boots last a whole year, or not gotten what they were really hoping for at Christmas. They have never had to think for themselves. "I don't have to know it,  I'll just google it"! Is it surprising that they want to know every detail without doing any of the ground work? Entitlement and helicopter parents and meandering school boards make me sick. It's why we have people on this board who not long ago had to ask the simplest questions and now they are telling us how it's done. I applaud those who reveal nothing, can't the rest of you just enjoy their success without having to share in it? I never ask where did you catch that, because I don't care. I have my spots for all species and when a post inspires or excites me I'll go to my spot, and create my own memories good or bad and enjoy them all the same. More of you should too, there is no replacing the joy of earning something rather than having it handed to you. Sorry for the rant but it's the TRUTH!

You know. In 1995 I laughed at Sargents and the like that spun a tale like you did above.

After just shy of 16 years service I even witnessed this new found entitlement in young troops just enlisting. They world owed them everything.

Then I saw the smart, motivated troops that used every tool they could to do a great job and they didn't act entitled at the least.

I however think I saw more that felt the world owed them a living instead of the other way around.

I agree wholeheartedly......an d I can't wait to introduce my sons to my "buddies".

They say please and thank you, they try to hold doors open for people, they are generous and I try to teach them how to be self sufficient as best I can.

They are 6&4.

In the end, I'm sure all generations have thier "turds". I just try not to be or breed one. Lol.

I loved this post.

Not that I am disagreeing with anyone about finding a sock to stuff into blabbermouths... But if he told you he got that location off of a forum, and you were at the same location you were talking about,... Isn't that just conversation? Even if it wasn't you he got the info from, if you are both standing there then you obviously know about the spot too... Or am I missing something ?   Again I agree with gag orders where appropriate . :-)

Here here #1fisherman you nailed it.

2X that!

My only exception is that I will ask, but not for someone to give me a spot but rather to confirm one that I already know about.
(And it usually will revolve around whether the ice is safe and not so much about fish caught and location.)

I do agree that many, MANY more of the youth (basically anyone younger than I am) are being deprived of critical developmental opportunities by being denied the chance to FAIL!!!
How many kids today could catch a fish or bird or game animal for food?
How many could build a shelter if lost in the wild?
Build a fire?
Would they know how to survive in their own home if they lost power for a week or more?

Sadly, way too many would not, could not and DO NOT know and it makes me sad because they are losing touch with reality, the reality that guides and drives our lives.
They feel content to let their world and lives be rules by computers and sedintary lifestyles. And the public wants to know why juvenile obesity is an epidemic?

OK, back on topic...I agree that too many people don't want to do the "legwork" to find a spot of their own, and would rather let everyone else do it for them, and when they do converge (with all their internet trolls) on that spot like a plague of locust, they will proclaim "Look at the pond/lake that "I" found!" and proceed to fish it out, trash it up and leave it a complete mess!

I just need to clarify, I'm not implying that all the people coming up are like this but the ones who are, will look at what I wrote and get NOTHING from it. In fact they will not be motivated, as is my intent but rather they will be incensed. I'm 16 years a teacher, so I'm speaking from trench experience here. I'm not ironically putting the blame squarely on them, do you blame Frankenstein or the man who created him? Everyone shares responsibility here, what I hope is that this group will discover the meaning of intrinsic reward. In other words letting a good feeling be enough! I've voted in so many staff meetings against the hypocrisy of rewarding kids who just raised money for the food bank, with a pizza party, that it boggles the mind.  Hear this newbies, the information you seek is out there. There are literally thousands of articles written on how, what, where, why and when, READ! Asking for help is also appropriate we all learned to tie our shoes from someone ( sorry Velcro kids). Just don't ask for everything all at once. When someone wants to share they will and if they don't respect that, and see the value in the challenge. It's not the destination but the journey. Oh that's deep (next post, How deep, were you using a falsher or a camera? see:s*#t fisherman say)lol
Hell, if I'd jumped on all the dames I'm supposed to have jumped on, I'd have had no time to go fishing.
