Does anyone know how well an Eskimo Inferno or Otter lodge flip out ice shelter performs in the wind??

I have an Otter and it functions fine in the wind. Any high winds and any shanty that flips over or pops up is at risk for being blown around. If the winds are real high anchor it down so it doesn't blow across the lake :o Been there.
The Otter being bigger will stay put a little better I would think, mines never blown away just blown around.

I fish in high winds a lot and on my QuickFlip2 I installed the $15.00 anchor kit. It works great with 2 ice anchors and a short strap with a quick snap buckle and you are tied down.

The kit I use is the Clam kit but I believe Frabill also has them or make your own for the price of a old back-pac strap & two ice anchors.

Great info.  I have used a little Frabill 2 man pop up with the Eskimo ice screws and it has done great in 30-40 mph winds (Harrison).  I just got done putting together an Eskimo Inferno and was hoping to handle same extremes.  How are the Frabil Ice screws in that kit?

I don't have an answer for you on the Frabill ice anchors as I have the Clam kit. I tossed away the Clam ice anchors because they are CRAP. I use a couple of Eskimo ice Anchors from my FatFish 949...They are the best on the market.

Definitely agree on the eskimo ice screws, they are the best.  The inferno shelter seems to be really nice as is most the Eskimo products.  Have yet to test it out.

I just ordered the Wide 1 Inferno. Hope it shows up soon and I'll let you all know what I think. Another one for the eskimo screws. My plan is to add skis to the bottom instead of the hyfax and have two or four holes in the skis to run the screws through.

Plan on 1-2 hrs to assemble.  Had some wrong size screws but otherwise went pretty well.  Love Eskimo products ever since I bought a 10 " Eskimo auger 15 years ago at a pawn shop that still runs good today.

I used to have an otter 6x8 fold out that was pretty old and i had it go sliding on me a couple times. I just put my gear in it and bought 4 eskimo ice screws to put around it and never had problems again. However i made the switch to an eskimo fat fish that uses ice anchors and screws and i will never go back to a flip out. i love being able to carry my shanty on my back lol

Really wanted an inferno but couldn't find one around here. So I went with a clam nanook, I figured it might have a little less chance of becoming a sail since it's smaller.
