Lockport Today!
« on: Dec 27, 2005, 08:11 PM »
Went to lockport today, didn't even have to drill any holes, lowered the transducer into a hole and found a whole mess of fish. I then lower
a 1/4 ounce chartrues jig and minnow and instantly caught a goldeye, throughout the 2 hour trip i caught about 4 goldeye and 6 saugers.

Sounds a bit like us yesterday...some fish caught, but not the fast and furious action some others are getting.  Oh well...nice day to get out.

Anyone have any pics of a goldeye?  We don't have 'em in MN (at least I don't think we do) and I'm kinda curious.  Any help would be appreciated

I think they are rarer in MN, but you guys do have mooneye. They look almost identical.

I was out for pike again today.  Didnt land any but lost my fav rod down the whole to a hungry pike.  Apparently those pike like chubby darters :-\>:(

Stopped off at lockport on the way back and caught a couple sauger.  Was only there for about 1/2 hour but it was packed.

Check out my thread "Boxing at Lockport" - there is a photo of my wife with one.  I have a better photo of one from last summer with my little guy - let me know if you'd like me to post that.

They are in the Red River, so technically there should be some in MN.  Mooneye (very close relative) are also in the Winnipeg River system, which I believe is the outflow for Lake of the Woods, so it would be possible that they would be in any waters that flow into LOTW as well.
