Who has ice fished Brundage Reservoir?
« on: Sep 25, 2014, 10:43 AM »
I was up at Brundage last week and fish were jumping all over the place and guys in float tubes were just killing them on almost every cast.  I talked to one of them and he said that the average fish in there is over 14" with some over 20" (Cutthroats).  So that got me thinking about fishing it through the ice. Is it possible to get there by the time it freezes over without a snowmobile?  What about parking at the ski hill and snowmobiling in there?  It's not that big and i cant imagine it's that deep so i would think that it would freeze pretty early in the season.  Let me know your thoughts!

I fished there many moons ago, Yeah you need a snowmobile unless it freezes early before snow. The problem with that place in the winter is the snow is super deep and it get super slushy. If a guy could sled in there before Christmas you would do ok, also its a hot spot for drag racing so it would be rather loud. Brundage won't let you park there but just before that is goose creek parking lot, groomed trail from there. Also they drop the water level a lot.

Doveman went a couple years ago and just like bearsfan said, he had to shovel 3 feet down to the ice! Let's just say they weren't using all 5 lines

But did they catch anything? I'll shovel snow if the fishing is good :)
