Hey huntindave. I was there 2day(grey Silverado) We kept 26 medium crappies and a couple gills. Fished by them black tubes. Slow but steady, never moved.

I figured that was you in the grey frabill  just a short ways beyond me, I was in a blue clam pro.  I almost moved out closer to try to match the same depth you were fishing but I don't like crowding people when there is plenty of lake available.  I figured you were getting enough action to keep your interest.  I left you a note on your window.

Looks like the gills were shallower and the crappies were hanging over deeper water.  I'd like to go back next Saturday but I have my doubts that the ice will hold out that long.  I'm afraid the sun, wind and open water by the geese will take it's toll.  I won't drive over unless I can get some local intel say around Thursday or Friday for reports.
take care,
Dave  :>)

Thanks again for the PM:) the rear hatch area is so large, that my 6 rod box is laying down in front of the scout, and my flambeau storage box w flasher and camera is in top of the rod box. 2 five gallon buckets are upright in this pic, setting in the scout. One w minnows, and other w fish packed in auger slush. The rear floors aren't even being used, or front passenger floor or seat.

That's the car!  Silver with black, not a black car!  My bad!  We hit it that night, took home about 10-12 fish.  Nothing crazy.  It was windy and we were in my pop up eskimo, so we didn't stay too long.  Not to mention breaking through coming off one of the jetties, water up to my mid shin wasn't a fun thing!

I drove by Sunday around noon, the place was pretty full.  I was surprised to see that many people out!  Friday night a guy from 30 miles or so west of Crystal Lake broke his four wheeler through the ice trying to get off the lake by the west jettie (by the trees and trails, west of the bullhead quite a ways).  I saw that he got it out, which was good.

I talked to the fella which helped him get it out on Saturday.  The four wheeler was froze in a bit but the guy that got him out had a UTV with tracks and was able to pull the four wheeler free.

That's what was needed.  The ramp going down to the Jettie was solid ice on Friday night and I don't think there would have been a way to back a vehicle down and pull him out without having some problems getting the vehicle back up that incline.  Glad to hear her got it out!

Good to hear the rain didnt eat the ice!!

The aerator is slowing opening up more water (the geese and ducks are probably helping that too).  I'm not sure how much rain we got but I know it rained for quite a while.  Hopefully one of those that are fishing this morning know about this site and can report back.  Regardless, my ice stuff is put up for the season.  Too much work to do around the house, the yard, etc.

Saw 2 or 3 guys out on the lake yesterday afternoon.  Open water all the way from the aerator location to the bullhead.

I think it's time to fish below rathbun spillway w that Plano address, and screw heading up north. NE ia/wi backwaters sucked last weekend, and crystal has to be about shot;)

Might go check it out tomorrow.  Not even sure if they are running it.  We didn't get that much snow or that much rain as of late.  Pretty dry down here.

Bad thing is they have been putting out nets at the spillway input tube and there isn't squat to catch down below like there used to be :(]

I know that you'll struggle to get in Crystal Lake, at least by the bullhead.  The west jettie must be accessible, but I'm not sure if planks are needed or not.  With the rain we got a few days ago and then rain last night, I know that I won't be heading out on it, that's for sure!  Those panfish can wait until I get in the boat to be caught!
