Ice out by May?
« on: Mar 10, 2014, 05:00 PM »
Not that I've ever put much faith in long range forecasts (especially accuweather)  however the long term trend seems to be leaning the same.
No real warm ups, no major pattern of change to the jet stream.  This could get interesting,  I know some are already talking about ice for trout opener, but looks to be much longer than that.
Wonder what is going to happen to the spawn this year especially Eyes & Esox.  Season opens again not long after probable ice out.

Accuweather has temps at or below freezing every night into the 2nd week of april, with nothing above mid 50's & all temps 10-15 below normal for the entire next month.
While yes normal spring 60-70 will rot the ice quick, these temps not so much.

While I think gore is an idiot. We can't argue the facts. Lately there's lots less ice.
This freeze is just what Europe went through 2 years ago.  Same thing. If Asia does it next year or yr after can't argue with a pattern.....
