Million $$$ fish
« on: Mar 03, 2014, 12:33 PM »
Caught this fish and just figured the Nebraska G&P tagged it for research, so I measured it and threw it back.  A week later my friend calls me and says i threw back a fish could have been worth $2,000,000, boy did i feel sick! Turns out it was tagged for Cabelas fish for millions contest.  luckily the fish wasn't worth anything because the contest was over, plus i wasn't pre-registered. Still thought it was cool to catch a tagged fish.  I was wondering if anyone else ever catches fish with these tags?  P.s i was using a perch colored Northland Forage Minnow with a waxie.

tags from fish and game to track migration of perch in local lake. one of the two is usually a 5-10 $ reward to make sure tracking number is turned in

I have caught a few tagged fish. Only 1 T-bar tagged fish like the one in the picture, and a few P.I.T tagged fish in Idaho.
2,000,000$ fish thats insane nice catch!

mind telling where?...I'd be REAL surprised if the NE game & parks ever had a "you catch we pay" program.  Still interesting tho.

Nice Perch, perchmasterson!  and the fish came out of Box Butte, apparently it didn't have anything to do with G&P research. Just the Cabelas contest.  Sure would be nice if they had a you catch we pay program though, like a banded goose.  Here is a link to the participating waters from the 2013 contest.   http://www.americanaoutdoors.com/cabela-s-announces-fish-for-millions-participating-waters.html
