Levitt Beach
« on: Mar 04, 2014, 05:49 AM »
Hi all

Wondering if anyone can give me a conditions report for Levitt beach.  I'm trying to figure whether to stay local or fish the big lake this Friday.  I appreciate any info.

If anyone is planning on fishing that area Friday let me know.

Thanks!

I was on big lake yesterday , entered on Gilford Beach and drove 4 miles out to a spot I fish in my Subaru Outback.  Over 24" of ice not far from broads. Everything was frozen solid including all previous sled and vehicle tracks that were out there when it was a slush dump. I was going to drive off at Levitt but had a friend whose jeep had an issue and just needed to get it off the lake. I would say your good to go ,just expect it to be rough as hell as you enter the lake where all refreezing happened.  Vehicle tracks going everywhere near center of lake.
I`m not telling you to drive out , I amm confident as I have been doing it for over 40 years and pretty familiar with the lakes characteristics.

Thanks for the report!  I fished off of Leavitt one this year.  I was able to hoof it out to a decent spot.  May try and do that again.

I  and many others were driving off of Levitt way before the big snows and rain hit. You are good to go.

All hard pack off Leavitt. THE FIRST 150 YARDS IS ROUGH WITH RUTS ! After that its smooth. A good 14 " of ice.
There must be a twelve step program for this
