Pickerel spawning ?

Just caught a 15inch pickerel at silver lake. I had it up against my body to help control it while I removed the hook. After I released it I looked down to see fish egg sacs all over my side where I held it against my body. Could it be possible.just curious

Not sure if they are spawning yet but I know they spawn almost immediately after ice out. Just maybe that female was really ripe and all it took was a little pressure to milk some eggs out. I have had that happen with trout late in the ice fishing season.

I had the same thing happen to me Sunday.
Must have been several hundred eggs.....
