LX9 issues
« on: Feb 24, 2014, 04:20 PM »
So about 4 weeks ago I purchased what I thought was going to be the sweetest Flasher ever. After trying it out I had to contact Marcum. Seems the transducer was bad and some electrical components. Two weeks after sending it in I got it back. That was this past Friday. I thought perfect. Just in time for a big event. So Saturday out on the ice and it seemed to be working great and then the screen freezes. None of the buttons worked and the only way I could shut it off was to disconnect the battery. Hooking the battery back up I could use it for about 10 minutes and then it would freeze.
So today I sat down and put it in simulator mode and played around with settings and no matter what after a bit it would freeze up.
So now I sit here waiting on a reply email for my just fixed not working new flasher.

That sucks, nothing worse then spending all that money and have issues

I have a LX6 and  its been a good machine, what update do you have on it ?  maybe you could try to apply the latest version and see if its software related.

Hope they get you fixed up, I know once its working   your going to love it so hang in there

Did that a few times. Nothing is fixing it. 2.31 is what I on it. I thought maybe dynamic range was the issue but it freezes in auto and manual too.

You said you just bought the unit, where did you buy the unit? Send it back or take it back to where you bought it from. Tell Marcum you want a new unit? That's an expensive toy to just sit on the shelf while we still have good ice ....

Man, i so agree with that.  ;D And people are still buying stuff knowing that there's a problem with their products. Total insanity to me. But to each their own.

The new head unit arrived 3 days ago and I sent out the defective one yesterday. That's good service to trust a customer. Seldom places do that anymore. Ran the new unit in simulator for a few hours and no issues. I'll be taking it on the ice tomorrow.

Chumster, some of us understand that taking a leap into new technology from a proven company may have it's issues. Why do you think in the end companies have a great product? Because people use it and return info on how to make it better. My VX1 pro has never had an issue and has always served me well. This is now my wife's first flasher of her own and I taught her how to read it and use it to catch fish. My 12yr old has a old FL8 with dim lights and can catch as many fish as the next guy and my 8yr old uses a 13yr old Eagle Easy Fish, I used to use as my first ice rig, and has great success on the ice. I also have a Lowrance open water set up for on the ice that I use once in a while. Hmmm Your company sells a lot of reconditioned units so you should take that thought off the table.

At any rate, I am glad Marcum is so easy to deal with. Customer service goes a long way.

I have three vexilars and bought a new 28 and my old fl 8 is over 25yrs old and have had zero issues with any of them . I was thinking about buying an LX 7 this summer while they are on sale but kinda afraid of doing that now . At least if I bought one now I would have it perfected by the time ice comes again in 9months  ???

Jumbo, I would not hesitate to pick up a LX-7. I had some issues with mine at first but with the new update it has worked perfect. I love this thing. It makes ice fishing that much more fun and I am considering mounting it on ny boat this summer. If I can con the wife into letting me spend the money on the open water kit. I bought the 7, new otter xt1200 and gps in thel ast year. Plus you never know what the guys from marcum will come up with next for updates.

Used it last night out on the ice and it worked flawlessly. Even ran the camera in heads up mode. Very cool option to have.
