Had an ice king 1111 auger given to me it has a 3hp tech. engine, i have been told 50:1 and told 24:1 gas to oil, does anyone own one that knows....

The answer to your question is "yes".

Tecumseh says 24:1

A lot of people run them with less oil to avoid "the drip"

Running her at 24:1 is the safe answer.

If you object to the excessive smoke and oil dripping out of the exhaust, lean out the fuel oil mixture to something you're comfortable running with.

I personally have had no problems running old Tecumseh's at 50:1 with a quality synthetic oil.  Some guys run an even leaner mix than that.

I got an old ice king. But it`s in the cellar as an antique.

50:1 on my old auger, it said 24:1 as well.

Runs better and no black ooze anymore.
