fish are shut down? turning around?
« on: Feb 08, 2014, 06:21 PM »
have others noticed fish lately, coming to investigate the bait and turning around around heading to the bottom? I have had this happen at several lakes around northern rutland county and southern addison county? It is almost as if the fish are afraid of the bait. more importantly, if this has happened how are you convincing these little critters to bite? thanks

usually when that happens I keep changing colors and color combinations, usually less bright colors and also downsizing. I use a lot of tungsten jigs and wedgies and nuggies and if fish don't hit I will go down to 3mm jigs with just a little tail on it and one or two spikes.sometimes no tail will work, also.Sometimes its  eyes they want and sometimes nothing works,,then it's time to move

yeah, good advice, I have been sending the whole tackle box down there, definitely had some more action as the jigs got smaller, however the bigger fish seemed to have scattered too, not to worry, I can only assume it can only get better, cant get much worse. thanks guy

What species are you trying to target? Depending on what you are fishing for, you might want to switch to a lighter line or leader. I switched to all fluorocarbon for pretty much everything.
