We will start today's story with holy wind Bassquatch! After 25 hours of fishing and 9½ hours of sleep Friday to Saturday, I arrived a touch late today, 7ish am. I was dragging my behind for sure! It was nice to see some familiar faces already there. Gary and friend (forgot name) Wally and Son Nolan were also there. Once again the bite was surprisingly slow for March. I managed one bass @ 3½ lbs. Another handful of baby larry's and a couple slime darts. The wind was HOWLING across the pond and took someone's something for a ride! The guy ran FULL speed after it! As he got closer and closer to a bad shoreline along the road, I knew it was only a matter of moments he would be swimming! Sure enough, down to his hips he went (girlfriend didn't even get out of her chair)! He was up and back on the good ice pretty quick! He packed up and headed out. Now let's get to the "just 1 more step " part of the story! After seeing him bust through, I got to thinking, I should have put the plank where I had it yesterday (better edge). So I walk over to move the plank, as I approach the plank I was one step from the plank and wouldn't ya know! Down to my knee I went with one leg! So I pull my leg out, step onto the plank BAM the damn plank bust through just as I take 2 steps towards shore! I didn't get anymore wet but it still sucked lol. I should have just listened to myself this morning but I thought it would stay solid today with the colder temps. The spot we were accessing is shallower and weedier than where I knew was better. Lesson learned! Don't access at know hazard areas :-). Go figure, the only guy that brings a plank, busts through trying to move the plank for everyone including myself on the pond, so we can get off dry . All in all a nice day out of the house and fishing with some great guys. Bonus ending, Striker bibs and the elastic snow barrier inside kept 97% of the water out! Hopefully y'all had a good day with great memories and possibly a biggie 👍👍
